The last day of the Portugal Open proved to be the most sensational for our swimmers. Vár Eidesgaard swam for a new junior and national faroese record at 1500m Freestyle with the time of 17:32.83. She improved 25.2 seconds and beat the senior record for 19 seconds! Plus, her split of 800m – 9:18.79 – is a new junior record and only 0:00.14 from the senior record. As a curiosity we inform you that this time (1500m) would be national record in Portugal for their age.
In the morning, Óli Mortensen sets a new national record for 200m fly with the time of 02:08.56 and in the afternoon won 800m Freestyle with his season best – 08:15.60.
Also at 1500m freestyle, Lena Rannvaárdóttir sets a new personal best – 18:09.25. She improved 23.6 seconds.
The days before more great results joined those above. In the first day of the competition, Vár Eidesgaard has already beat the junior record for 800m Freestyle – 9:23.40 and swam for a fantastic time at 400m Freestyle – 04:26.87, a new junior and national faroese record. Óli Mortensen swam for his best time at 1500m Freestyle – 15:49.14 and gets the third place. Also, Lena R. swam for her best time at 400m Freestyle – 04:42.21. In this race her splits at 50m (31.61), 100m (1:06.63) and 200m (2:18.39) was her best time ever in 50m pool.
Astrid Foldarskard wons B final at 50m Freestyle with 00:27.41 and swam for her best at 100m fly with 01:05.58.
Astrid and Lena will continue the preparation for the World Championships, Kazan, Russia (2-9 of August 2015)
